Something I’ve noticed increasingly recently when recruiting salespeople:
A company interviews a candidate.
They really like them.
The candidate likes the company.
Everyone is positive.
And then… nothing happens.
Another interview is arranged. Then another. Decisions are delayed. People are on holiday. Meetings need to be scheduled.
Meanwhile, the candidate continues talking to other companies.
And then the phone call comes:
“I’m afraid they’ve accepted another offer.”
It’s frustrating — particularly when everyone involved knew they were the right person.
My advice to companies recruiting salespeople is simple:
If you find someone you REALLY LIKE, be decisive. Move heaven & earth to get them on board.
Good salespeople are in demand. If you hesitate, someone else will make the decision for you.
