Technical Sales Manager
£40-45,000 basic + bonus + car/car allowance, pension, life insurance
Our client, a very long-established Birmingham based design & manufacturing business is seeking a Technical Sales Manager due to the imminent retirement of the long-serving current incumbent. We are seeking a talented, likeable, reliable and highly self-motivated person looking for a long-term career move.
Reporting to the Managing Director, key duties will include:
Proactively generate profitable enquiries and closing them into orders.
Ensure that sales enquiries and orders are processed accurately, quickly and efficiently.
Work with the internal design and production teams to gather data and provide tailored engineered customer solutions.
Prospecting new clients and development of new markets and opportunities.
Maintain existing accounts ensuring customers remain satisfied with products and services provided.
Maintain a strategic plan for the division i.e to develop new products for existing markets and open up new possible markets.
Develop existing customer accounts by cross-selling other products and services to increase value of sales to those accounts.
Planning, setting up and managing trade shows.
Undertaking client presentations, meetings and sales seminars.
Educated to a good standard with several years successful selling experience at senior level and preferably some formal training in sales/marketing. Some kind of Technical degree would be an advantage, but not absolutely essential.
Good understanding of manufacturing techniques, as our client are primarily a made-to-order business.
Enjoy technical challenges.
Experienced in negotiating at senior level especially where decisions are often prolonged and decided by a committee. Patience required – with the skills to close sales.
Commercially aware, able to think clearly and solve problems.
Able to work on their own initiative without constant supervision. A self-starter, well organised, setting out personal goals and achieving them.
Able to handle and manage several projects simultaneously and also manage & engage with the needs of the sales office (answer phone calls etc)
A good team worker, outgoing with a good sense of humour.
Have some understanding of strategic sales planning.
Good functioning knowledge of basic IT systems including online meeting platforms, social media etc.
On offer is a basic salary between £40-45,000, subject to experience, plus bonus, car/car allowance, pension, life insurance and 25 days’ holiday.
