Supply Chain Manager

£40,000-£45,000 basic salary + excellent benefits

We are seeking a Supply Chain Manager, for a renowned FMCG organisation within the Health & Beauty Category, with responsibility for Forecasting, Purchasing & Planning, and Data maintenance, liaising internally with Sales, Marketing & Design, and externally with third party manufacturers (both within the UK and Asia) and logistics providers to ensure maximum OTIF customer service is provided within budgeted inventory levels.   Responsible for the management and development of a current team of two Assistant Buyers.

Key duties include:

Creating & owning the SKU Forecast for all purchased finished goods (and any purchased materials & components)

Managing inventory within budgeted levels whilst ensuring customer & supplier service levels of 98%+ are satisfied across all brands at all times

Liaising with Sales & Marketing to create accurate forecasts to enable appropriate purchasing and financial reporting

Responsible for ensuring maintenance and integrity of the item master file: COG, safety stock / time parameters, lead times, MOQ’s etc,

Responsible for liaising with and the supervisory management of the third party manufacturers and logistics providers to ensure all ERP system transactions operate flawlessly

Liaising with suppliers to ensure appropriate upstream inventory buffers are in place and reported to the wider business, and obsolescence is minimized during new product introductions

Agreeing inventory strategy and functional budgets with the COO, and ensuring these are reported on and delivered.

Helping the COO develop a best in class supply chain, through regular sourcing and tendering exercises, and through building effective relationships with existing suppliers through regular and efficient communication

Working closely with the wider business, in particular Sales Order Processing, Design, and Technical, and integrating third party vendors and logistics providers within the business processes, to deliver business objectives

Creating and communicating appropriate KPI’s and reports to the business

Liaising with Marketing to ensure NPD and promotional plans are satisfied on time and cost effectively

Managing obsolescence process as necessary

Assisting the COO with supplier sourcing, management and negotiation

Providing ad hoc support and absence cover for other departments as required for the smooth and efficient running of the Company

Working with direct reports to ensure that demand forecasts are provided to suppliers, and that all ERP exception messages are actioned in a timely fashion, including the placing of new purchase orders, expedite requests, postpone requests, cancellation requests, and overdue PO’s

Remain aware of current trends within the Health and Beauty market with respect to product and packaging innovation, in order to assist the CEO and Marketing with new product development

To create both internal and external project briefs as necessary, requesting quotations and communicating prices and options accordingly

Liaise with suppliers, third party freight companies and the Sales Order Processing team to ensure the seasonal gifting ranges are despatched and delivered on time as required by customers

Attending and representing the business at trade shows both in the UK and overseas

To apply:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar FMCG role

Sound understanding & experience of Supply Chain principles & practices, including: Demand planning, Purchasing from 3rd party full service providers, Inventory control, 3PL Warehouse operations, Supplier management, Data management.  Experience with sourcing from Asia advantageous

Experience of working within an environment supplying to major retailers and wholesalers.  Experience of exporting products overseas an advantage

Advanced IT and computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel

Understanding of ERP systems essential, Netsuite experience advantageous

Customer focused, commercially astute

Great attention to detail, accurate & conscientious

Excellent communicator, able to communicate ideas and plans both internally & externally

Strong team management skills, able to develop & improve a team through imparting knowledge & understanding, and through leading by example

Strong analytical, financial and numerical skills, sound decision making abilities

Ability to thrive in the fast pace of an owner managed SME

 

On offer is a basic salary in the region of £40,000-£45,000, subject to experience, plus excellent benefits package.
