Stores Assistant

Our client is the largest independent distributor of Engineering Products and Consumables in the United Kingdom. The group currently employs over 900 people, who continue to be a cornerstone of the business and are fundamental to providing industry-leading customer service.

With over 45 branches across the UK, they continue to invest in their branch network, to ensure they can operate at a localised level with their customers, to meet their requirements, providing access to the stock, services and technical personnel that their customers rely on to maintain operations.

We are currently seeking a Stores Assistant for their Halesowen head-office..

Working Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday plus 1 in 4 Saturday mornings

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Picking orders efficiently and accurately
  • Packing and dispatching orders (boxed or palletised) via internal and external transport
  • Stock processing – receipt of goods, paperwork and shelving
  • Stock-taking – counting and weighing from system
  • Counterchecking orders
  • Goods In – receipt of goods, loading and unloading of vehicles
  • Trade counter sales – serving customers
  • Use of pallet trucks, trolleys, various machinery including the pallet wrapper and pallet weigher
  • Kit assembly
  • Liaising with other branches across the network
  • Working across all warehouses based at HQ

Skills & Requirements

  • FLT licence is desirable, however not essential
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment would be advantageous
  • Good work ethic
  • Must be PC literate – able to check stock on the computer system
  • Good telephone manner and able to work as part of a team
  • Good problem-solver
