Senior Solution Architect - 2022 Commonwealth Games 

Birmingham City Centre (currently home based due to Covid restrictions)

Our client is a successful software company offering direct supply, installation and support of Data Protection and Recovery solutions to large SME, Corporate and Public Sector accounts. Recent years have seen successful entry into new markets including providing services to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham

This role within the IT Services Delivery team will require technical and IT Security skills to review and assess all aspects of design, integration, security, and risk for systems in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. This will include a level of independent working, working with other Technology Functions and their respective suppliers. It is important to note, that due to the nature of the Games, with fixed end dates for many deliverables, the successful candidate will need to have a pragmatic approach to delivery.

There is potential to progress to an operational role in the Technology Operations Centre at Games time.

Role Responsibilities:

Review architecture elements for allocated IT systems (predominantly SaaS with some IaaS, Microsoft and other), 3rd party, mobile and web applications, website, IT security, network, end user computing as well as the technology roadmap;

Work with other TEC functions implementing applications and solutions;

Ensure all integration, assurance, support, and service elements are designed into technology solutions (inhouse and 3rd party);

Ensure the core ICT architecture, systems and network are consistent and aligned to the various national security framework agreements, principles, and standards for ICT Security / Cyber Security;

Prepare submissions to the Change Advisory Board;

Ensure alignment to the already defined technical standards for integration within the over-arching technical architecture;

Ensuring ICT architecture standards, principles and best practice are applied, adopted, tested and formally accepted into service;

Ensure the technical architecture is re-usable and can be adapted to future editions of the Games by adopting baseline principles and applying “localised” alternatives where required;

Work with existing team members and management to maintain the technology roadmap and accurate baseline documentation;

Recommend High Availability solutions and standards are designed into solutions and delivers on the DR and Business Continuity Strategies;

Carry out risk assessment of supplier solutions and ensure key risks and issues are identified, logged, assigned to the relevant Functional Area owner and mitigated;

Develop technology specific policies, procedures, checklists, architecture drawings and use cases to support your role and to the benefit of the wider technology team;

Maintaining close, formal working relationships with ITS, TEC FA’s, the OC and their sponsors and suppliers in the deployment and support of delivered solutions.

It should be noted this will be an evolving position and responsibilities may change over time given the Organising Committee is a rapidly evolving organisation working against inflexible deadlines in a complex environment.

We are seeking BSc/BA graduates in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field with proven experience as an Enterprise, Solution or Technical Architect.

You will have experience in project management and QA methodology. Familiarity with Agile frameworks and regression testing would be a plus.

 

This role is immediately available and will run to completion of The Games in August 2022.
