Company Branding

When recruiting new marketing talent for your business, hours are spent perfecting the job specification and advert, but another way to attract the right people is through company branding. The most talented marketers out there tend to be choosy about who they want to work for, so your branding will need to appeal to them.

It's important to know that company branding is so much more than just a logo and corporate colours. It's about how your company presents itself, the image it wishes to portray, its values, philosophy and company culture. To build the best team, you need to focus on your brand. Here are a few things to consider:

Don't blend in - When branding is done well, it can help you to stand out from the crowd, and when you're seen to be offering something different, you're more likely to attract top marketing talent who will flourish within your company.

Have an online presence - The first place a potential candidate will go to when researching your company is your website. Make sure it's eye catching, up to date, and more importantly, mobile friendly. Candidates search for jobs on the move now more than ever and giving your website a responsive design is crucial.

You should also consider which types of social media your company should have a presence on. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are all useful mediums for blogging industry posts, presenting a human side and finding out the latest industry news in your sector.

Be consistent - When communicating a brand image, it is key to develop a distinct tone of voice, and stick to it. This becomes more difficult in larger companies when multiple employees are tasked with managing communications, but a bespoke social media and communication policy can help. A consistent message will build confidence in your company.

Define your brand values - What are your company's values? If your company hasn't defined any yet, now is the time. Carry out an internal exercise to establish key points such as what keeps its employees happy, why do people enjoy working for the company, what inspires loyalty, etc. Once your values are in place, tell the world!
