Journalist/Staff Writer - Graduate Trainee
This leading corporate finance publication is seeking a graduate to join their writing & editorial team as a Staff Writer/Journalist, contributing to a monthly magazine.
You'll be responsible for researching and reporting on global business, finance and banking matters, contributing to the magazine and helping it to remain as the leading source of corporate finance intelligence, and to maintain its dedication to global mergers, acquisitions and corporate restructurings. The title provides financial insight and analysis to a unique audience of key financial dealmakers responsible for structuring, negotiating and executing the deals that move markets and shape the global corporate economy. Its audience includes senior Corporate Executives, senior members of in-house legal teams, Corporate Bankers & Financiers, Private Equity & Institutional Investors and other legal and financial experts around the world.
Day to day tasks will involve
News writing - including research & analysis, rewriting current stories from press releases, sourcing expert quotes where necessary
Feature writing - structuring long articles, selecting quotes for insertion, interviewing contributors
Editing and proof reading magazine content
Assisting with the production of the magazine on an editorial level
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong general knowledge on global business, finance, mergers & acquisitions, private equity, restructuring and corporate insolvency. The magazine's demanding readership base comprises senior finance professionals, so a high level of interest in these topics, and a willingness to learn, is essential. No previous experience in Journalism is required, however, any experience that you have had will be taken into consideration.
You'll already possess an accomplished writing style and exceptional research skills, honed throughout your higher education studies, and will now be keen to develop a career in Journalism. You'll be dealing with complex, sophisticated concepts and will need to be able to condense these into an engaging and readable form, whilst also working to tight deadlines and producing high quality copy that satisfies both clients and subscribers.
A clear thinker, you'll be well organised, disciplined, ambitious and will possess excellent attention to detail.
