Project Co-ordinator (Prince 2)

Our client, a leading West Midlands based Engineering Group, is recognised internationally as a key supplier of time-critical, quality items to the Oil and Gas Industry.
Some of their higher value, highly specified orders in the Subsea sector demand specialist skills and processes which they are seeking to develop.
The individual will have gained experience in managing complex time-critical projects over a number of years, preferably in the Oil and gas sector, and will be fully conversant with one or more industry standard pc-based tools such as Prince 2 or Microsoft Project or Workbench. The candidate will be qualified in the use of these tools; in the case of Prince 2, also certified.
He/she may hold professional membership of Association of Project Management, Project Management Institute or Chartered Management Institute.
The individual will have managed all the elements of a complex project environment, including:
Project Planning, Procurement/Supplier/Sub Contractor Liaison, Resourcing, QA, Production, Documentation, Logistics, Client Review, Progress Chasing and Project Sign-Off.
The Project Co-Ordinator will work closely with the Projects Team and also the individuals responsible for project delivery.
Definition of project will consider characteristics such as value, complexity, timescale and sensitivity.
The Project Co-Ordinator will become involved when a project conforms to the definition agreed, and will assume responsibilities for the creation of the formal Project Plan, the Review and Progress-chasing process and liaison with the Client Project Team as appropriate. This will involve the creation of Progress Reports and the management of Progress Meetings, etc.
Elements of the role will therefore require the Project Co-Ordinator to:
Schedule project timelines; Track projects using standard tools; Provide Lead the planning and delivery phase; Facilitate the clarification of scope, specification and deliverables; Define Project Tasks and Plans; Develop formal Project Plans; Assemble and co-ordinate project updates, review and action-planning; Be aware of and control budgets/costs; Identify and request resources; Plan and guidance to operational individuals; Liaise with clients and internal functions; Monitor and escalate; Prepare and present Reports during and after project delivery; Identify and implement project changes and interventions to achieve project timelines; Evaluate project delivery and assess results/performance; Make recommendations on improved process
The successful candidate will ideally have: A good educational background; Qualification in project management; Knowledge of project management techniques and tools; Direct experience, preferably in an engineering or production environment; Experience of people management; Experience of strategic planning; Experience in risk management/reduction and mitigation; Experience of change management; Focus on quality first time; Attention to detail
The individual will be a critical thinker and have good problem-solving skills, be a sound planner/organiser, be decisive and be a good communicator. Experience of commercial negotiation and presentation skills are essential.
He/she will be an influencer and leader, a good delegator, a team-worker and skilled at negotiating externally and internally.
He/she will be experienced in conflict management and be tolerant, adaptable, flexible but firm when required.
A remuneration package commensurate with the importance of the role will be offered.
