Description:
Our client, a successful, Birmingham based company, is seeking a Production Manager whose responsibilities will include the following:
Production
Plan production using the Sales Order Listing and the Capacity Plan.
Achieve monthly and annual budgets and forecasts whilst maintaining the wage ratio set by management.
Achieve customer requirements with regard to quality and delivery.
Manage the workforce to achieve the above and control costs through effective use of the workforce. Continually look to improve production methods and productivity.
Be responsible for maintenance/repairs of all machinery.
Quality
Be responsible for quality and where necessary, liaise with customers over returns. Work with operatives to ensure quality is maintained or improved.
Be responsible for minimising scrap.
Be responsible for maintaining the Quality manual and audit procedure.
BSI
Be responsible for the upkeep of the BSI manual and liaise with BSI auditor to maintain company registration.
H&S
To be responsible for everyday H&S in the workplace to ensure safe practices are followed as per the companys procedure.
Be responsible for the reviewing of the H&S policy, risk assessments and fire risk assessments.
To undertake and keep records of fire/evacuation practices and fire alarm tests.
Be responsible for the anodising area, COSH requirements.
Personnel
Be responsible for the management and discipline of the workforce.
Review staffing levels and discuss any recruitment with the General Manager.
Annual appraisals of workforce.
To apply for this role your background should include batch manufacturing, practical engineering (with evidence of achieving qualifications) and planning, ideally gained within a spinning and/or metal forming environment. A knowledge of Piecework schemes is required and experience with the management of ISO 9000 and H&S legislation essential. A pro-active mind-set and knowledge of written reporting for management/board level would be a distinct advantage.
