Media Relations Executive - 9 Months contract 35k + benefits - London
My client is an international company that is seeking an M.R Executive to enhance their team of 7. Initially the role is 9 months FTC but this may become permanent. The team works closely with the Global Leadership and in support of all the main functions of the organisation, including the Service Lines and Industry Sectors. The Global team is a proactive team, building the brand and reputation of the Global business and leaders. It also works very closely with the PR teams in the countries, to co-ordinate global launches.
The role of M.R Executive would suit a communications professional with a couple of years minimum experience in a B2B environment. The role will involve the day to day management of some accounts, proactively developing and delivering a PR strategy for each. It will also involve maintaining the media relations infrastructure and providing administrative support to other team members.
The successful candidate will have an appreciation of the critical role that corporate communications - and in particular, public relations - plays in an organisation.

This person will need to be a dynamic self-starter, with the intellectual rigor to work with complex and sometimes technical subject matters and turn these into compelling and headline-grabbing media stories. Excellent communication, influencing and writing skills are fundamental.
Principal Responsibilities
Media Relations:
  Work as an advisor to selected sector accounts and teams, to develop and deliver practical and measurable PR plans
  Pro-actively sourcing opportunities for comment or pitching reports
  Develop and deliver a journalist relationship management and contact program
  Prepare press releases and other media briefing materials for launches of global surveys, studies and campaigns; assist with the distribution of press releases and reports via the Global PR network
  Work closely with the social media team to ensure fully integrated media launches
  Liaise with PR managers across the firms network to support global media campaigns
  Track forward features in relevant media
  Assist with planning, organizing and supporting global media events
Media relations team support and infrastructure management:
  Support members of the media team in PR launches and the delivery of content
  Support in the monitoring and tracking of media relations intelligence; ensure accurate and timely collection and distribution of press cuttings
  Maintain the global media activity calendar, internal and media contact lists
  Update the public relations community intranet site and media pages
  Monitor and respond appropriately to requests from country-based PR teams
  Collate, analyse and store print and broadcast media coverage - compile coverage reports, and support in monitoring social media coverage and effectiveness
  Liaise with suppliers e.g. media monitoring agencies
The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate the following attributes:
  A self-starting and can-do attitude and the drive and enthusiasm to get the job done; the potential to develop within the organization
  An understanding of and interest in print, online and broadcast media relations
  An understanding of how social media plays a key part in media launches
  Excellent communication and networking experience / skills in a wide range of situations and with people at all levels within the organization, including global leadership
  Cultural awareness and sensitivity, as this role will involve daily interaction with countries around the globe
  Initiative, coupled with accuracy and attention to detail; reliability
  Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  Ability to manage several projects concurrently; excellent time management / organizational skills
  A strong team player and lateral thinker, comfortable working collaboratively, virtually, and independently
  IT literacy: a sound command of the Windows Office programs some knowledge of Lotus Notes
This will not always be a nine-to-five job; the successful candidate will therefore need to be flexible with regards to working hours. From time to time, some travel may be required.
