Internal Communications Manager - 9 month FTC

Job purpose:
To create and manage an internal communications strategy designed to maximise internal engagement with staff, facilitate the integration of the waste and water businesses and develop a positive attitude to the company and its new strategy using consistent messages across a number of communication channels
To manage the Internal Communications Officer who has responsibility for a number of communication channels including specifically its intranet, printed and electronic newsletters to all UK staff so all employees are kept abreast of key business initiatives and events
To manage the companys intranet to a standard that one would expect of a leading brand with a commitment to further increase employee engagement on its internal digital platform
To manage the companys printed and e-company newsletters to a standard that one would expect of a leading brand committed to ensuring its 14,000 employees are fully informed about the latest developments within the company
To work with the business to produce company position papers highlighting the companys viewpoint on key industry issues
Business PerformanceThe role holder is responsible for overall management of the partnership with Variety - holding regular meetings with our counterparts at Variety to ensure that the partnership is on track and discuss further developments.
Provide guidance to all areas of the business on the best way to communicate key initiatives/events in terms of channels and content.
Work with QHSE and HR on delivery methods and messaging of key campaigns e.g. International Safety Day and HR campaigns.
Challenge all internal communication - is it fit for purpose? What is the objective of the communication? How can it be improved to ensure that it is line with company values/culture People
The role holder is directly responsible for managing the Internal Communications Officer setting objectives and reviewing performance against objectives , this involves fortnightly one to ones and joint team meetings with the External Communications Manager and Web/Electronic Media OfficerThe role holder works closely with the Production Services Manager on certain projects e.g. events such as Driver of the Year.
The role holder works closely with the Graphic Designer on certain projects e.g. newsletter production for which there will be a set schedule agreed with the Production Services Manager
The role holder will work closely with the business and the Group Marketing & Communications Director in order to produce appropriate position papers on topical issues in a timely mannerProcesses
Vision Extra - ultimately responsible for ensuring that Vision Extra is produced and approved by the ExCo members as per the agreed schedule. Project plans/proposals - required to review and sign off project plans for key business events/initiatives e.g. internal communications strategy, Driver of the Year and Intranet developments, social media plans
