Description:
My client is one of the UK's largest and fastest-growing fresh food suppliers serving virtually all the major UK supermarket retailers with private label product including the big three. Turning over in excess of 700m last year, the ambition is to be a 5bn company by 2030 with 50% of revenuesearned internationally.
A new, centralised Purchasing function was set up in late 2009 with a "Buy for Less" remit to be delivered by lowering the cost to buy, lowering the cost to receive and making processes more efficient, underpinned by a strong people culture and customer-led ways of working.
Reporting to the Group Head of Purchasing, the E-Procurement Manager position is an exciting new role which will be key in enabling my client to leapfrog their existing buying process and systems capability to quickly become leading edge. Working closely particularly with the buying teams, IT and finance, key focus areas will include:
1) Putting in place best-practice Purchasing process and system foundations including
- setting up a balanced score-card of measures for Purchasing and taking ownership for the achievement of process targets
2) Reviewing and Recommending a "Procure to Pay" system appropriate to the business which simplifies and delegates procurement processes with the right controls, reduces transaction costs and gives visibility of long-tail spend.
3) Reviewing, justifying, sourcing and then managing/implementing the appropriate e-procurement technology to enable them to buy better, covering:
- spend analysis (to quickly and correctly identify the opportunities)
- tenders (to standardise, make electronic, shorten the timescale and do more)
- e-auctions (to deliver an annual program across all spend areas which gets the best price for the right specification)
- contract management (to ensure we get what we bought, to prevent leakage, to manage documents efficiently and to make visible the contracts calendar with key milestones)
4) Setting up exceptions-based reporting which can be used to help business operators reduce usage/consumption.
5) Playing a key role in the overall strategic direction of the group purchasing function alongside the other senior team members
Min of 5 years experience operating at a buyer or senior buyer level for a major blue chip company.
You will be a commercially-minded buyer, and have used procure-to-pay and e-procurement systems
You must be degree educated with a CIPS 9 (not essential)

The role will be based from the West Midlands head office. Salary is an excellent basic + plus 10% bonus, fully expensed company car including fuel card (or cash alternative 6,240), personal private medical cover, contributory company stakeholder pension scheme (3% contribution if employee also contributes) and life assurance (2x salary).
