Cash & Carry Manager - 40-50,000 basic + bonus + car/car allowance
Our client, a multi-award winning Cash & Carry / International Wholesaler, predominantly of groceries, toiletries, tobacco, household goods and dry food products, is seeking a Cash & Carry Manager as part of their ongoing expansion.
Reporting to the Managing Director, specific duties will include:
Quality & Service:
  In collaboration with colleagues establish quality standards across all areas of depot operations.
  Establish and deliver quality standards in all areas of customer service.
  Establish & deliver quality standards across all customer touch points.
  Ensure that all systems & procedures enable high quality service & delivery in the depot.
  Ensure high standards of quality & service in Export and Depot Deliveries.
  Take a lead role in all new customer service initiatives.
Customer Acquisition:
  Work with colleagues to ensure that there is a programme of continuous customer acquisition.
  Work with colleagues to ensure that there is an effective business development plan in place.
  Build effective relationships with all customers.
  Continually measure & monitor customer numbers and transaction values.
Trading:
  Take a lead role in the branch as the key interface with Buying.
  Initiate and co-ordinate competitive intelligence as required.
  Working with colleagues initiate and/or support trading initiatives to drive the business.
  Working with colleagues to ensure that branch gross margin targets are being delivered.
Efficiencies, Productivity & Security:
  Ensure that Operations business processes and methods deliver maximum operational efficiency.
  Working with colleagues, take a lead role in ensuring that labour productivity is continually optimised.
  Working with colleagues, take a lead role in ensuring that depot deliveries and transport are continually optimised.
  Ensure that the cash is managed effectively.
  Ensure that debt and credit are effectively controlled.
  Ensure that the physical security of the premises is effectively implemented and there is a regime of robust security measures.
  Working with colleagues, take a lead role in ensuring that branch energy consumption is optimised.
Systems, Business Processes & Projects:
  Continually review business processes and procedures to ensure that Operations are efficient and that time available for customer service and selling is optimised.
  Ensure that all operating systems are effective, clear & relevant.
  Take a lead role in implementing new or adjusted depot operating systems.
  Work closely with H.O. colleagues to ensure that systems & procedures are relevant, simple and efficient. Ensure that complexity is continually designed out.
  Act as the main Operations interface in new systems projects or initiatives.
People:
  Ensure that recruitment and selection is appropriate & relevant for the depot.
  Ensure that all employees are properly trained and equipped to carry out all the tasks required in an effective and efficient manner.
  Ensure that there is a culture of fairness, performance management and that high welfare standards are being maintained.
Compliance & Controls:
  In collaboration with colleagues, ensure that the depot complies with Company policy relating to health, safety and hygiene.
  In conjunction with colleagues, ensure that the depot complies with all applicable legislation relating to employment legislation.
  Ensure that the depot complies with all relevant trading standards legislation.
  Ensure that the depot complies with all relevant legislation pertaining to Export & Depot deliveries.
  Ensure that the depot complies with Internal Audit standards.
Reporting & Analysis:
  Ensure that appropriate metrics & analysis are available to properly and commercially assess the business performance.
  Initiate trend & comparative reports to objectively read & understand the business.
  Analyse key data: sales, margins, labour, transport & overheads. Work with colleagues to improve the business performance.
Business Planning:
  In collaboration with colleagues. prepare and determine business plans for Operations.
  In collaboration with colleagues, prepare planned capital expenditure to support Operations business objectives.
To apply, you should have a proven & demonstrable track record of success within a similar role within a Cash & Carry/Wholesaler environment. You will have excellent people management skills and be a natural leader with instinctive good judgement & decision making abilities. You should be fiercely ambitious, target driven and both strategic & tactical by nature.
On offer is a basic salary in the region of 40-50,000 plus bonus, car (or car allowance) and family health care.
